Picture of Paul Russell

My name is Paul Russell and I live in Centennial Colorado, a suburb of Denver. I retired from United Airlines after 28 years of being a Computer Analyst/Programmer for Pilot Flight Training. Now I spend much of my time in the workshop making dust with sharp tools. I started woodworking in High School but the demands of a family and a job sidelined the hobby for years. Once the four boys moved out and I had a little discretionary income, it was time to get going again. I especially wanted to do lathe work so I bought a lathe, a bunch of books, videos and wood and got started. I have done over 200 pens and pencils and a lot of other turning products as well. Lately I have been building my skills in segmented turning. What you see on this site are mostly these turning products.

You can see pictures of the workshop by clicking here (have patience the pictures are large).

Other things I have done include a 16 foot Oak fireplace mantle, several glass top Oak coffee tables, and an Oak Wine Storage cabinet that holds 81 bottles and which will cost me far more to fill than it did to build.

Although my offerings are high quality and attractive, I hesitate to call myself an artist yet. I think I need a few more piles of sawdust to earn that distinction.

My other hobby is collecting books, mainly First Edition mysteries. My library currently contains over 425 books.
